More About the Weekend Of Oneness (WOO) Retreat

NOTE: NewWay Ministries will not be hosting any Weekend of Oneness events in 2009.

IF:

you are willing and eager to honestly explore both the obstacles getting in the way of deep intimacy in your marriage and the potential for intimacy available exclusively through the resources of Christ.

IF:

you are passionately hungry to move beyond a “good-enough” marriage

IF:

you can affirm that you are irrevocably committed to your spouse as your life long partner, a commitment that would only be broken by your spouse’s failure to keep a similar commitment.

IF:

you agree that the deep intimacy you desire requires a growing, completely honest relationship with Christ; a mystical dependence on the Spirit’s empowering and leading; and a longing to bring pleasure to the Father at any cost to yourself.

THEN:

we invite you to apply for admission to the WOO Weekend by briefly (1-3 paragraphs per question) answering the following three questions. By submitting the application, you are agreeing (if accepted) to arrange for your transportation to and from the Glen, to arrive in time for dinner Thursday evening (5:30 p.m.) and to remain through lunch Sunday (ending at 12:30 p.m.), to observe all rules and policies of Glen Eyrie, and to participate fully in all scheduled and directed activities of the weekend.

General Information

Glen Eyrie Castle

The week-end begins with the 5:30 p.m. evening meal the first day and ends at 11:30 a.m. OR with an optional 11:30 a.m. luncheon the last day. All sessions (unless noted) will be held at Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs. The Oaks Lodge will be our home for the long-weekend, with meals served in the Castle dining room. The Glen has arranged a remarkably reasonable rate for us which includes lodging, meals and snacks. Lodging must be at Glen Eyrie with no exceptions. The week-end is intense requiring your full focus from early morning until late evening.

If you plan to fly in, the Colorado Springs airport is about 30 minutes from The Glen. Denver International Airport is 1 1/2 hours away. Transportation to and from either airport will be the responsibility of each couple.

Class Size

Class size is limited to 30 participants (15 couples).

Applying to attend the Weekend Of Oneness (WOO) Retreat

Qualifications for Application:

  1. You must resonate with the four “IF’s” listed above.
  2. You must be married at least 5 years.
  3. You must read The Marriage Builder and Shattered Dreams and be in general sympathy with (defined as no clear opposition to) the point of view expressed in these books. Connecting is recommended reading, but not necessary.
  4. You must be willing to meaningfully open yourself to the Spirit’s work in a long weekend format.

Procedure for Application (3 steps):

  1. Each spouse is requested to answer the following questions separately (1-3 paragraphs per question-no longer please).
    • Question 1: How would you rate the over-all health of your marriage on a scale of 1 to 10? Please explain your answer.
1: on the brink of divorce, and 10: as satisfying as possible this side of heaven.
    • Question 2: How non-defensive and open are you to exploring the obstacles to intimacy that you bring into your marriage, on a scale of 1 to 10? Please explain your answer.
1: I do not see that whatever problems we have are my fault in any way. 10: we both have faults, but I am committed to exploring the obstacles to our intimacy within me, knowing my ultimate goal is not to enjoy a good marriage but to be a good spouse. Also include a statement of your willingness to keep no secrets from a trusted third party (someone from your community) as you pursue intimacy with your spouse.
    • Question 3: What is your understanding of the difference your relationship with Christ and your obedience to biblical truth can make in your marriage?
  2. We ask that you provide us the names and contact info of two "prayer friends/couples" who agree to pray for you as you engage in the application process and, should you be accepted, will pray for you during the entire weekend retreat.  Please include their names and individual email addresses on the application form (if an email address is not available, then a mailing address and phone number).

Larry believes your prayer partners play an important role in this weekend! We will send them periodic updates to help them pray effectively for your weekend. Therefore, please print their contact/e-mail information clearly.
  3. Complete the application form, printing the application, and sending it with your individual answers to the three questions.
